The Snappers guide to
 "A New York City Weekend."

Since food is a cornerstone in my life, I will focus your itinerary around food. These adventures will also take you through fun neighborhoods. Bon Appetit!

MSG = Madison Square Garden.
All subway directions are from MSG. (34th & 7th/8th). 1,9 is 34th & 7th. A,C,E is 34th & 8th

Sat. or Sun.

Walk downtown from MSG on 6th Ave. You'll pass the Chelsea Antique flea market - a classic Saturday morning Haunt. Make a left on 18th Street and walk to Union Square. In the park, you'll come to the Union Square Green Market, a great farmers' market and perfect place to people watch. When you get hungry, head to Republic for lunch (a Pan-Asian Noodle place with great atmosphere and a bar where you can eat alone along side other people eating alone)

OR

If you feel like walking some more, walk downtown on Broadway until you reach Houston Street. Head East (left). You will be walking through NoLita and you will enter The Lower East Side (I have no idea why I felt the need to capitalize). When you get to Ludlow St. (or right before) you will come to Katz's Deli (205 E. Houston). This is a classic, landmark place to get a pastrami sandwich and have a NY moment.

Any day

Take the A, C, or E downtown from MSG to Spring Street. Head east (left) on Spring St. Now you're in SoHo and you will head into NoLita (a very trendy neighborhood that borders SoHo and Little Italy). Eat amazing pizza at Lombardi's 32 Spring St. and if you have time for a beer, head across the street to the Spring Lounge (a classic dive bar).

Any day

Take the 1 or 9 from MSG uptown to 79th St. At 80th St. and Broadway, you will find H&H bagels, the best bagels in the world. I think they've even shot Seinfeld here. Now you're on the Upper West Side. You can get food to go and walk east across 79th to Central Park where you can read the NY Times. I think this is best for Sunday.

See you in NYC!
