What Peckinpah Saw

Just a little bit South of Antarctica's Arc
On a squatting ice berg near the Colony Clark
Lived a penguin as strange as a dog with no bark

This penguin you see had a traveling bone
And was not at all content to stay in his zone
So he borrowed a map and set out on his own

But the map we are told turned out to be fake
He'd gotten it you see from his bad uncle Jake
Who'd drawn the Pacific as not but a lake

As he paddled along on his back and his side
Waiting to land but enjoying the ride
He finally came to an island and rode in with the tide

A turtle named Taft relaxed on the beach
And agreed as an artist the penguin to teach
They'd journey around staying just out for reach

And we're glad he met Taft
because penguin's can't draw
So now we can see what Peckinpah saw
