World Traveler

The MM - "Billy Crudup goes AWOL on his son's third birthday and embarks on a road trip from New York to Oregon. The fact that this trip is not exactly traveling the world is the least of this film's problems. Billy leaves a wife (Julianne Moore) and family that he has absolutely no reason to leave and proceeds to behave as one of the most inconsiderate and selfish bipeds on the planet. Not only is his behavior despicable but the people he meets are either boring or deranged. When we finally realize the purpose of Billy's journey and we share the moment of his self awareness, it is one of the most underwhelming and least convincing closure scenes of any serious drama."
