The MM - "M. Night Shyamalan  writes, directs, and acts in this science fiction thriller about extra terrestrials who use messages drawn out in crop fields to help them navigate on their earthward journeys. Mel Gibson stars as the widowed ex-minister living with his three children in rural Pennsylvania. After an interesting introduction, Shyamalan makes his first of several mistakes by trying to internationalize the plotline. Shyamalan compounds his problems by trying to mix in ill fitting lessons on metaphysics and theology, then attempts to wrap things up with a semi-suspenseful but illogical ending. Gibson and the cast perform adequately but the film's substantial decline during it's second half result in overall disappointment."
