Punch Drunk Love

The MM - "Paul Thomas Anderson directs Adam Sandler in his first dramatic role as a mentally unstable businessman who owns a company that sells novelty toilet plungers. Operating out of a non-descript warehouse in Los Angeles, Sandler's frantic behavior proves more distracting than interesting. The same can be said for Anderson's directing techniques. Sandler's problems include trouble with the bottom line and seven mean but caring sisters but his life begins spiraling downward quickly when he becomes the victim of extortion after calling a phone sex service. Amidst all of the chaos is a sweet but unbelievable romance between Sandler and Emily Watson. Punch Drunk Love has received critical acclaim and has taken home awards at several international film festivals but the Movie Man has only a little love for this movie that lacks a solid punch."
