Old School

The New MM - This movie will please anyone who regularly watched “Saturday Night Live” while Will Ferrell was a cast member, enjoyed “Swingers,” and thought that “Bottle Rocket” was funny yet strange. Basically, any male between the ages of 20 and 45 who has longed for the days when he had little or no responsibility before getting married and becoming enslaved to the corporate empire will relate to the basic premise of this story. Luke Wilson is devastated when he discovers that his girlfriend (trailer-trash extraordinaire Juliette Lewis) is hosting gang-bangs while he is a way at insurance seminars. It just so happens that his friends, Ferrell and Vince Vaughn are each struggling with the fact that they are mature adults who must give up the Trans Ams, beer bongs, and block parties for marriage and fatherhood. Their solution is to “help” Wilson regain his youthful carelessness, which, through a few twists of plot, leads the three to start a fraternity on the campus of a college they do not attend. The film has many cameos, from Snoop Dogg rapping to Andy Dick earning money teaching young ladies how to properly give fellatio to their new husbands. Don’t expect to receive enlightenment from this film, but do expect to laugh, especially if you’ve enlisted your girlfriend to carry a six-pack in her purse into the theater.
