Mulholland Drive

The MM - "I had to see this film twice just to make sure I understood that I didn't understand it."

Ed's Note - The rest of the Goliard Staff agrees with this assessment although we suspect that the MM only saw it twice to make sure he saw what he thought he did as far as lesbian activity. He had to know that he wouldn't understand it any better the second time. We found it hard to understand as well but simply let it flow over us. The girls are beautiful, the Cowboy is an excellent character, and the Lynchian activity on screen is satisfying in a Lynchian sort of way. We suspect, despite the Lynchian maneuvers and attempts at meaning obfuscation, that it can be summed up very simply with the sentiment "Hollywood will chew you up and spit you out eventually no matter how sweet you are."
